A seafood market for fresh catches and souvenirs, with snow crab in winter and the prized 'Natsuki' rock oyster in summer.
Sakaiminato Fish Market is a seafood market located near the port in Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture. With 12 seafood vendors alongside restaurants and souvenir shops totaling 15 stores, it draws more than 700,000 visitors a year and serves as Sakaiminato's premier hub for fresh marine products.
In winter (November through March), the male snow crab known as 'Matsuba Crab'—a San'in specialty—comes into season and is available live, boiled, and frozen. In summer (June through August), Tottori Prefecture's wild-harvested rock oyster 'Natsuki' makes its appearance: large, milky oysters gathered by female divers through free diving, sold direct from the source.
Visitors can purchase seafood and eat it on the spot at the market's dining area, making it easy to enjoy the freshest ocean fare during a sightseeing trip. Located just a few minutes by car from Sakaiminato Station, it is a convenient stop to combine with a visit to Mizuki Shigeru Road.
