About Yonago Kitarō Airport

Located in Sakaiminato, Tottori, the airport is nicknamed “Kitarō Airport” after the manga artist Shigeru Mizuki, who is from the area. The yōkai characters greet you the moment you land. It has domestic flights (Tokyo/Haneda) and international routes.

Rental car

The most flexible way to explore San’in. Several companies operate at the airport; booking online in advance is the norm and usually cheaper. Mt. Daisen, the coast and the temples are far easier with a car.

Bus & taxi

There are connecting and local buses toward Yonago Station and Sakaiminato, and taxis for short distances or when you have luggage. Frequencies vary, so check timetables in advance.

JR Sakai Line (the Kitarō train)

From “Yonago Airport Station” you can ride the JR Sakai Line, whose trains are decorated as Kitarō trains — the ride itself is a sightseeing experience. The terminus, Sakaiminato, is the gateway to Mizuki Shigeru Road. Transfer at Yonago Station for trains across San’in.
