A public lodging facility on the Kagami-ga-naru Plateau, serving as a base for hot springs, skiing, and beech-forest walks.
Kyūkamura Oku-Daisen is a public lodging facility situated on the Kagami-ga-naru Plateau on the southern slopes of Mt. Daisen, at an elevation of 920 m. Surrounded by old-growth forests of beech and Mongolian oak, the facility provides guest rooms, bathing facilities, and a restaurant in a peaceful natural setting.
The large communal bath is filled with ultra-soft natural water (hardness 15–20) drawn from a borehole 250 m underground in the beech forest, prized for its exceptionally gentle feel on the skin. The adjacent Kagami-ga-naru Ski Area is within immediate reach, making the facility a perfect winter ski base. From spring through autumn, it serves as a hub for nature walks along wetland trails carpeted with katakuri (dogtooth violet) and matsumushi-sō (scabious).
Part of the Environment Ministry's Kyūkamura network of national vacation villages, this facility allows guests to fully immerse themselves in a national park environment while enjoying comfortable accommodation. It is popular with a wide range of visitors, from families to seasoned hikers.
