Hawai Onsen (hot spring)

A lakeside hot-spring resort that seems to float on the surface of Lake Tōgō.

About this place

Hawai Onsen is a hot-spring resort spread along the northwestern shore of Lake Tōgō in Yurihama Town, Tottori Prefecture. Springs rise from the lake bed itself—a rare setting—giving guest rooms and open-air baths an almost-floating view over the water. The sodium chloride waters are said to be effective for neuralgia and fatigue recovery.

The hot spring's origins are said to date to the Edo period, when local residents petitioned the Tottori domain lord for permission to use the springs found in the lake. Several foot baths are set up in the resort area, and visitors can also stroll through Tōgō Lake Hawai Lakeside Park while enjoying the lake scenery.

At dusk, the resort offers stunning views of Lake Tōgō glowing red in the setting sun, allowing visitors to fully savor the lakeside atmosphere alongside meals and overnight stays. The resort is accessible by bus from Kurayoshi Station.
